About Spider Lake

• Spider Lake

Spider Lake is a 459 acre lake in the Pere Marquette State Forest and it has that “up north hilly and in the woods” feel.  It is quiet and peaceful here.  Often, there are lots of wildlife and the sun, stars and moon shine bright most of the time.  We have a lake speed limit so you can only “high speed boat” from 11 am to 7:30 pm but you can boat 24/7.  The deepest spot in the lake is about 40 feet so the lake warms up nicely for all-day swimming!  

In the State Forest there are no large, busy commercial businesses and the traffic that goes with them!  There is a restaurant 2 miles away, grocery-5 miles away and big box stores the other side of town.   It is about a twenty minute drive to downtown Traverse City and less than an hour to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. You will find most of the other inland lakes and Lake Michigan are deep and cold and have roads than run along the perimeter so traffic is often present and noticeable.  Spider Lake is the lake of choice for so many reasons!
